My grandfather (John Cyril Dives) was educated at Ardingley College in Sussex. As a child, I always remember his love of cricket and in his latter years, if I was with him, we would listen to the commentary on the radio (he had shingles in both eyes shortly after retiring and lost sight in both eyes). We thoroughly enjoyed it.
These letters are someone's notes about a cricket match between Ardingley College and a J.Dives XI. What is interesting is on page 2 it lists the members of the J.Dives XI and the last four batsmen are all Dives - his brothers, although I am not too sure who W.A.Dives is.

(Charlotte Maud PALETHORPE [15599] was born on 25 Jun 1887 in Headingly Leeds and died on 2 Feb 1978 in Harrow Hospital MDX.)
