1. Money v Money (Russell): Divorce Petition, 1886.
DIVORCE SUIT AGAINST A COLONEL. In the Divorce Court, on Wednesday, the suit of Money v Money came on. Mr. Praed appeared for the petitioner, who sought a divorce by reason of the cruelty and adultery of her husband, Colonel Edward James Thrale Money, a retired officer of the army. There was no defence. The parties were married in 1880, and afterwards lived together in Guernsey, India, and England, there being two children of the marriage. According to the evidence of the petitioner, her husband seized her by the throat and on one occasion he locked her in a room for five days, she not being allowed to leave it under any pretence whatever. In the room there was no washing water. Her husband used to bring her food, and some times he would forget her meals. Thomas Lindsay, who was formerly in the respondent's employ, deposed as to the visits of women of bad repute to Colonel Money. His lordship said that the case of cruelty was a very bad one. Both of the charges had been established, and he granted & decree nisi with costs, and custody of the children.
Marion was divorced 26 Oct 1886.
