Glorious Riot of Color. MAJOR MONEY'S GLADIOLI GARDEN Like some brilliantly colored rainbow fallen on the hillside, magnificent gladioli in every imaginable color and shading are making a beautiful display at Major Money's gladioli gardens, "Monomeath," Mt. Evelyn, just now. Standing in soldierly rows, thousands of plants turn their heads, laden with perfect blooms, to the sun, and sway gracefully in the breeze a picture that entrances all who behold it. In an acre bed 40,000 bulbs are budding and blooming in a glorious riot of color Black Pansy, so deep a velvety crimson that she is almost inky black, acts as a foil for Myra, with her delicate apricot complexion, and Byron Is. Smith, with his mauve petals shading to creamy yellow centres, Near them Captain Brandt wears a brilliant scarlet mess jacket, come rain or shine, and Jo. Coleman lifts a heavy head of cherry red blooms to shine in the sun. Further on we find Oliva darkly purple ,with wispy mauve stripes. As operatic in appearance as her name is the purple robed Aida, while Early Sunrsle gives sweet promise of sunny summer days with its deep blush pink petals. But equally beautiful are all the other members of the family of 300 named varieties of bulbs which have come from all over the world to live and bloom in the eight acres of garden beds at "Monomeath." In all there are from half to three-quarters of a million bulbs in residence there. Visitors are welcomed at the gardens, where a small admission charge is made for the funds of the Melbourne Hospital. Healesville and Yarra Glen Guardian (Vic. : 1900 - 1942) Saturday 9 January 1932
