Aeroplane Brought Down by Rebels.,
The chief of three simultaneous insurgent attacks was in the Bondilla sector,- north-west of Madrid. Moors and newly arrived Germans charged, supported by tanks and aircraft. The loyalists were successful after five hours, killing 200 and wounding many.
Sydney Henry Holland, who recently went to Spain with other British airmen, was killed on the Vittoria front when rebel lighters repulsed an attack on the aerodrome by eleven loyalist machines. Holland's plane, which was piloted by a Russian, with a Spanish observer,' was brought down with machine-gun fire. Thc ocupants were burnt to death.
The "Daily Mail's" Salamanca correspondent discloses that Holland's papers showed that the Government engaged him in November 27 at £220 a month, with a living allowance of £24, a first-class fare home, a premium of £300 for every rebel machine brought down, compensation for incapacitation through wounds, and £1500 to his next of kin in tho event of his death . . . . .
