Death of Lady Holland.
The funeral took place privately at Terwick on Wednesday of Lady (Dorothy Marion) Holland, of Wakeham, Rogate, who died on Sunday, aged 67.
Lady Holland was the wife of Sir Eardley Holland, president of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists from 1943 to 1946.
She was one of the finest amateur violinists in the country, and had studied in Paris and Dresden. Between the wars she had her own private quartet in London. She was well known for the musical parties given at her house in Queen Anne Street, London. The programs were chosen with great care and the artists who took part included such famous personalities as Casals, Cortot, Thibaut, Jelly d'Aranyi, Albert Sammons and Felix Salmond.
Her daughter Miss Jacynth Holland before her marriage was also a distinguished violinist, and was leader of the Petersfield Orchestra for a time.
Lady Holland who had several poems published was also a remarkable linguist. She leaves a widow three daughters and five grandchildren
