Ipswich Journal
The Publisher William Craighton died in 1761, and the Ipswich Journal and printing business continued under his sister, Elizabeth Craighton, and nephew, William Jackson. Jackson bought out Elizabeth Craighton's interest in 1769, but in the 1770s he ran into financial difficulties, joined the East India Company, enlisted with Clive in India and was never heard of again.
Meanwhile Elizabeth Craighton had restarted the newspaper with the help of another nephew, Stephen Jackson, and a different printer. Under various proprietors the Ipswich Journal continued until 1902, when it closed citing lack of advertisers and competition from more recent daily newspapers and monthly magazines.

Reports of Elizabeth's death noted she was the sister to the founder of the Ipswich Journal and how she was amiable and well liked.

This is the last Will and Testament of me Elizabeth Craighton of Ipswich in the County of Suffolk spinster made this Sixteenth day of December in the year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and Seventy six I desire to be buried privately but decently which I leave wholly to the discretion of William Truelove of Ipswich aforesaid Draper who I appoint my executor I give and bequeath to my nephew John Jackson the sum of fifty pounds and to my nephew Stephen Jackson the like sum of fifty pounds to be paid to them respectively within six months next after my decease I give unto the said William Truelove the sum of twenty pounds I also give him the sum of two hundred pounds upon the trusts and for the intents and purposes hereinafter mentioned I give and bequeath unto my cousin Ann Crow the Garter blue silk Gown which was my mother's all the rest of my clothes gowns and working linen and apparel whatsoever I give and bequeath unto my niece Hannah Jackson and as to all other my monies and personal estate not hereinbefore disposed of subject to the payment of my just Debts ffuneral expenses and the expenses attending the due execution of this my Will, except the expense which will attend the trust of the before mentioned two hundred pounds which I direct to be paid out of the interest money which will arise therefrom I give and bequeath unto my niece, Elizabeth Jackson and the said Hannah Jackson equally to be divided between them as tenants in common and as to the said sum of two hundred I declare the trust thereof to be as follows that is to say in trust that he the said William Truelove his executors or administrators shall, within six months after my decease place out the same at interest upon some public or private security or securities or lay out and invest the same in some or one of the public funds and from time to time to call in and replace the same upon the like or any such security or securities until the said sum of two hundred pounds can be by law out to the good liking of the said William Truelove his executors or administrators in the purchase of an annuity upon the life of my niece Sarah Hayward, the wife of William Hayward of Ipswich aforesaid cabinetmaker the interest of which said sum of two hundred pounds until such annuity shall be purchased and the annuity when purchased I do declare to be for the sole benefit and behest of the said Sarah Hayward or her assigns and that wither such interest money or annuity shall at all be subject to the Debts Engagements or control of her present or any future husband, but that the same shall from time to time be paid to the said Sarah Hayward or her assigns and that the receipt and receipts of the said Sarah Hayward or her assigns for such interest money and annuity shall from time to time and not withstanding her present or any future coverture be good and sufficient discharge and discharges provided nevertheless and I do declare that in case the said Sarah Hayward shall die before the purchase of such annuity shall be made that then the said sum of two hundred pounds shall not be laid out in such purchase, but shall be equally divided between my said nephews and nieces John Jackson Stephen Jackson Elizabeth Jackson and Hannah Jackson share and share alike and in six months inst after the decease of the said Sarah Hayward provided also and I do declare that the said William Truelove his executors or administrators shall not be answerable or accountable for any . . . . . and premises than shall actually count to his or their respective hands by virtue of this my Will or for any loss thereof or of any part thereof which shall happen without his wilful default I hereby revoke and make void all former Wills by me heretofore made and do declare this to be my last Will and Testament in witness whereof I have here unto set my Hand and Seal the day and year first above written.

On the first day of March in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Ninety Six Administration with the Will annexed of all and singular the goods of Elizabeth Craighton late of Ipswich in the County of Suffolk spinster deceased was granted to John Jackson the nephew of the said deceased and a Legatee named in the said Will having been first sworn duly to administer William Truelove the sole executor named within the said will of the said deceased having first renounced the execution thereof and Elizabeth Jackson and Hannah Jackson spinsters the nieces of the deceased and residuary legatees named in the said will having also renounced the letters of Administration with the said Will annexed of the Goods of the said deceased
