Alexander founded in 1843, with investors from England, a cotton factory, La Hormiga, at Tizapan Mexico City, manufacturing all kinds of undyed cotton blanket. (La Hormiga translates as The Ant)

In 1864 Alexander and his family left Mexico and returned to London where they settled at 84 Westbourne Tce Paddington.

Alexander married Mary Ann Julia CHABOT [18958] [MRIN: 6827], daughter of James CHABOT [18954] and Harriet BEEK [18953], on 24 Jul 1852 in Mexico City Mexico. (Mary Ann Julia CHABOT [18958] was born on 1 Jun 1816 in Bloomsbury MDX and died in 1899.)
