Richard owned the well-known house, the George and Bear Hot9el in Holborn.

In 1847 Richard declared bankruptcy, in answer to questions put by the court he stated that the business of his house had been utterly ruined by railway travelling, and that, after struggling on year after year, hoping for better times, he was obliged to become bankrupt.

Richard married Catherine POTTER [19254] [MRIN: 6926], daughter of Robert James POTTER [19255] and Catherine PETERS [19256], on 15 Apr 1834 in Old Church St Pancras London. (Catherine POTTER [19254] was born on 28 Nov 1810 in Bloomsbury MDX and died on 21 Sep 1896 in Hastings SSX.)
