Edmund PROCTOR-RUSHWORTH [35542]

  General Notes:

Edmund Proctor (Rushworth) was a soldier all his life and when he died in 1927 the soldiers came running into the house from the depot and their rifles with bayonets fixed onto the settee and they ran upstairs to help him but nothing could be done.

When he died he was carried across Bury LAN on a gun carriage and was afforded full military honours . He was only serving as a civilian in the orderly room but of course was a soldier all his life . Started out in Yorkshire regiment and ended up a Lancashire Fusilier.

The name Proctor-Rushworth is thought to be a nom de voyage, as Edmund was born Edmund Proctor.

Edmund married Minnie HAWKEHEAD [35543] [MRIN: 12879] on 10 Mar 1910 in Wakefield NZ. (Minnie HAWKEHEAD [35543] was born on 15 Nov 1887 in Leeds YKS and died in 1964 in Bury LAN.)
