William was christened at St James, Clerkenwell in 1793, the son of William (Grimwade p.327) and Ann Hammon. He was the brother of John William Hammon (Grimwade p.303, 340).
William entered a mark at Goldsmiths Hall in 1813 as a watch case maker of 20 Saffron Hill Holborn MDX.
William John Hammon married Jane Robinson 8 Aug 1814 at Old Church St Pancras MDX
He notified Goldsmiths Hall of a move to 58 Wellington St, Goswell St in that year.
At his son & daughter Jane's baptism 1815/1817 his address was that of his father St James Buildings Clerkenwell.
He moved to 17 Percival St and entered a mark of his own and a mark in partnership with Ezekiel Stevens in 1817. Then to 18 Percival St to 28 Galway St in 1819, 27 John St in 1821, 2 Whiskin St in 1823, 3 Whiskin St in 1832, 22 Gloucester St 1834 & 9 John St Wilmington Sq in 1835.

William's continual moves may indicate an instability which let him eventually to the Islington Workhouse and separation of the family.

At his daughter Sarah's marriage in 1857 he is recorded as dead.
William was aged 63 at his death, late of Ashby St Clerkenwell
