John read botany and tropical agriculture at Oxford and Cambridge before posting to Malawi as an agricultural officer in the Colonial Service. An unexpected inheritance brought him back to England in 1949 to Over Norton Park, Chipping Norton, a rundown pile in an equally rundown estate. John and his wife resuscitated the property into a viable working farm and accommodation.
Clinton married Jean Mary Vyvyan LADNER [22440] [MRIN: 8062] in 1939 in Little Baddow ESS.
