Investments Expert Joins Local Firm.
Serge Klotz, formerly of Pinehurst, has joined the staff of Reynolds & Co here to assist in the development of Reynolds Security and Commodity business in Winston - Salem and throughout the state.
The staff addition was announced by Charles H Babcock, resident partner of Reynolds & Co, 207 Reynolds Building, members of the New York Stock Exchange.
Mr Klotz has come to the city from Pinehurst, where he has been engaged for the past two years in investment research work and the active conduct of his business as a registered investment counsellor.
Worked in Far East.
The new staff member has spent much of his investment career in the Far East. He was graduated from Stanford University in 1929 and worked as an investment analyst in San Francisco until 1933 when he joined the international investment banking house of Swan Culbertson and Fritz.
He became a partner of the firm and subsequently manager of its head office in Shanghai. He played a leading role in the development of the Manila Stock Exchange and served as its president from 1938 to 1940.
Foreseeing the war, Mr Klotz left the Orient in 1941. After a year with the US Treasury Department, he joined the Navy, serving as a lieutenant of the staff of Admiral E J King at US Fleet Headquarters.
He was cited for " . . . . . greatly contributing to a clear understanding of the Japanese navy at US Fleet headquarters." At the conclusion of hostilities, he became associated with Glore, Forgan and Company, New York investment bankers.
Mr and Mrs Klotz will make their home in Winston-Salem and temporarily are at the Hotel Robert F Lee.

Sergius married Barbara ATKINSON [23273] [MRIN: 8355], daughter of Charles Whittlesey ATKINSON [23267] and Gladys HOWARD [23268], on 10 May 1930 in Pasadena California. (Barbara ATKINSON [23273] was born on 18 Oct 1907 in Japan, died on 16 Jun 1974 in Carmel California USA and was cremated on 19 Jun 1974.). The cause of her death was Pulmonary odema from rheumatic heart disease.
