WOMEN IN PRINT
This afternoon, at 2.30, at St. Paul's Pro-Cathedral, the marriage took place of Mr. Frank Duncan Herrick, son of Mr Herrick, of Hastings, to Miss Flora Brandon, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. de B. Brandon, of Wellington. The ceremony was performed by the Bishop of Wellington, assisted by the Rev. A. M. Johnson, M.A., and Mr. Claughton played the organ. The Church was decorated with palms. The bridal gown was of rich white satin, draped with Honiton lace, the lovely folds of that mellow tint only fine old lace possesses falling to the hem of the train, draping the front of the skirt, where it was caught up by clusters of orange blossoms, and forming the sleeves and a deep fichu-effect on the bodice. A tulle veil and a circlet of orange blossoms were worn, and a beautiful bouquet of white flowers was carried. The bridesmaids were Miss Lucy and Miss Nora Brandon, Miss Doris and Miss Alys Duncan, daughters of Mr and Mrs. Arthur Duncan. The elder girls wore frocks of ivory crepe ninon with dainty silver embroidered, lace and palest pink satin, their hats being of the same shade of silk, with their pretty bouquets of pink roses. From the bridegroom they received watch-bracelets, and to the younger maids the daintiest little figures in their embroideries and muslins and white hats with their touches of pink ribbon, he gave gold bangles. To the bride the bridegroom presented a diamond pendaont. Mt. Brandon, gave away, his daughter, and Mr. Arthur Herrick was best man. Mrs. Brandon wore a beautiful dress of white satin, draped with an overdress of black net delicately embroidered in black and white. A girdle and ends of black velvet, fastened with a brilliant clasp, gave picturesque emphasis to the graceful frock, and with it was worn a hat of white satin veiled with white with white feathers, a piquant little posey of tangerine roses being poised on the brim. Mrs Tilly's beautiful gown was of white satin, draped with black Spanish lace, a note of mauve velvet at the waist being repeated in the feathers on the white hat. Mrs. Kebbell, the bride's grandmother, wore a handsome gown of black silk, and a black bonnet with white plumes. Mrs Herrick, the mother of the bridegroom, was in black satin with an overdress of heavy white lace veiled with black chiffon, a touch of rose-colour being at the waist. Her black hat was massed with, plumes. Miss Herrick wore a delicate lingerie gown and a white hat. Mrs. Larnach wore a frock of brocaded crepe of a lovely shade of blue, with effective hand-made embroideries in black wool on the crepe, and frills of pretty lace. Her hat was trimmed with feathers exactly of the same tone, and. with a tiny cluster of roses in front. Miss Sara Brandon's gown was of satin, a new shade, haycolour, beautifully draped, a rich violet velvet forming the waist-belt. The hat was of the same rich yellow, with a large upright spray of purple wistaria. A reception took place later at Mr. Brandon's residence in Hobson-street. Most beautiful presents were received by the bride and bridegroom, quantities of table-silver, and china, and jewellery. Some pendants, bracelets, and rings were among the gifts. An interesting present was from Mr and Mrs. Kwei Chih, a rose-bowl with the Chinese Arms engraved on it, and the Chinese Association sent another very handsome rosebowl and a pierced silver fruit-basket. Among the bewildering array of pretty things was a set of blue and white coffee cups in pierced silver stands, and two of those hot-plates that are such fascinating additions to a modern breakfast table.
