The Will of Anna Alston of Stysted
16 March 1696
In the name of God Amen the 16th day of March in the year of our Lord sixteen hundred ninety and six I Ann Alston of Stysted in the county of Essex widow being sick and weak in body but of good and perfect mind and memory thanks be given to Almighty God for the same. Revoking all other and former Wills by me heretofor made do make and ordain this my present writing to be and contain my last will and testament in manner and form following. That is to say first I give and bequeath my soul into the hands of Almighty God who gave it me, and my body to the earth where of it was made in an assured hope of a blessed resurrection through Jesus Christ my Saviour and Redeemer. And as for my worldly estate I Will and dispose there off as follows first I give and bequeath unto my servant John Beckwith the sum of five pounds of lawful money of England to be payed under him by my Executrix hereinafter named within three months next after my decease. All the rest of my goods chattels household stuff stock ready money and all other by personal estate whatsoever and wheresoever I give and bequeath unto my niece Anna now a wife of John Scarlett of Brittlingsea in the same county and I do hereby make and ordain her the said Anna sole executrix of this my said Will. And lastly I do hereby nominate and appoint my kinsman Mr Robert Horner of Hempstead in the County aforesaid and Mr Thomas Wilson of Gosfield in the said County supervisors of this my present last Will and Testament desiring them to assist and advise my sole Executrix in and about my funeral and all things relating to this by present last Will and Testament and I do give them the said supervisors four guineas apiece for their pains to be taken therein to be paid them by my sole Executrix within one month after my decease. In Witness whereof I have here unto set my hand and seal the day and year . . . . . above written

Anne married L'Estrange ALSTON [3123] [MRIN: 1056], son of John ALSTON of Stisted & Belchamp Otten [3116] and Anne CROCHERODE [3117], on 13 Jan 1652/53 in Castle Camps CAM. (L'Estrange ALSTON [3123] was born after 1598, christened on 23 Apr 1601 in St Ethelbert and All Saints Belchamp Otten ESS and died about 1681.)
