May 05.
Dear Mr Hunt, I am a New Zealander, who for some years has been collating and researching, with others, a Julius family history.
Rosemary Julius has suggested I write to you, as you may be able to throw some light on the family of James Stevens and Florence Julius, from whom I believe you are descended.
As you may know Florence was active in her day on such a mission as I, and I am grateful to have a copy of her "Genealogy: West Indies" and her research, which form a bedrock of the current genealogy. She passed on her data to Sir George Julius in Sydney and I have worked with his granddaughter Jenifer on the matter.
My connection is via my grandmother Katherine Julius daughter of Frederick Guilder and Ellen Julius, my father Harold Fenn (who married late in life) emigrated to NZ in 1906.
Enclosed is printout of all the information I have on Florence and her descendants, you can see by the gaps it is minimal. Might I ask for your help in adding anything you can to the record including if you are willing details of yourself and your immediate family. Dates and places are one thing but the real value of a family history is where it includes more personal details, as appropriate, on family life, employment, obituaries, pictures etc. I would be most grateful for anything in this line you might be willing to contribute. I am being rather forward in asking for this in my initial communication with you but Rosemary can vouch for my reliability. The family history is kept within, and for the exclusive use of the family.
Accordingly if you are interested in my work to date you are very welcome to a copy, it now runs to some 300 plus pages, Rosemary has a copy.
We are very much looking forward to November this year when Rosemary is flying out to visit us.
I do hope I have not presumed upon you, and await your reply with much interest.
Meanwhile with my very best wishes.
