Which is which?

"Some trees give the date of death of his first wife as 1820. However, this is incorrect as there is confusion on main tombstone in Lingfield as this date refers to his second wife Ann. .
"IN MEMORY OF MARY WIFE OF WILLIAM ALSTON DIED FEB 3 1782 AGED 33 YEARS Also Mary ." Next to the main tomb is a small headstone "to the memory of Mary wife of William Alston".
