John Alston of Tiverton in the County of Devon Clothier bequeaths two dwelling houses in Birchin Lane in Tiverton with land and garden adjoining (now in the occupation of William Chambers and Elnor his wife and Humphrey Snow) to six poor shearemen of the town of Tiverton.
L500 to the poor of parish of Tiverton, to be put out to interest during the
lives of said William and Elnor Chambers, on their death an estate to be bought with said money, which estate to be for the use of the poor in Tiverton, the rent to be used for maintaining the said two houses
To Brother-in-law Thomas Alstone one shilling and remittance of two years rent due at Christmas.
To nephew John Alstone one shilling
To nephew Thomas Alstone one shilling
To nephew Joseph Alstone one shilling
To nephew Abraham Alstone one shilling
To niece Elnor Alstone one shilling
To niece Joane Gray daughter of Richard Chamberlaine one shilling
