7. Israel Alston: Will 14 March 1916.
THIS IS THE LAST WILL and TESTAMENT of me ISRAEL ALSTON of Corringham in the County of Essex Farmer
1. I appoint my son Horace Edward and my daughters Lucy Elizabeth Hall and Ada Strange and the survivors and survivor of them and the heirs executors or administrators of such survivor or other the trustees or trustee for the time being of this my will (hereinafter called "my said trustees") to be EXECUTOR EXECUTRIXES and TRUSTEES of this my will
2. I give and devise my freehold messuage or tenement shop general store slaughter house bullock shed barn cart shed and other sheds stables oil store yard garden and premises situate at Corringham aforesaid at the junction of the road leading to Vange with the road leading to Fobbing and abutting upon the latter road as far as the passage way hereinafter referred to and now partly in my own occupation and partly in the occupation of my son John Robert together with a right of way over the passage way leading from Fobbing Road to the yard and buildings in the rear of the said premises which passage way forms part of the land devised to my said daughter Ada by Clause 5 of this my will unto and to the use of my son James Mallet in fee simple
3. I give and devise all that my piece of freehold land situate in the parish of Corringham aforesaid known as the Brickfield containing twelve acres or thereabouts and also the adjoining piece of freehold land containing thirteen acres or thereabouts And also all those my adjoining pieces or parcels of freehold land situate in the parish of Corringham aforesaid and known as the Eight Acre field the Sixteen Acre field the six acre field the five acre field and the one acre field And also my piece or parcel of freehold land situate at Fobbing in the County of Essex with the workshop or shed erected thereon and formerly in the occupation of W J Payne but now unoccupied And also the range of five timber built and tiled messuages and gardens known as "Hill Cottages" on the south side of the road leading from Corringham to Fobbing Creek now in the respective occupations of Hogman Parker Ockenden Mullins and Whitwell And also the two timber built and tiled messuages and gardens adjacent to Fobbing Creek now in the respective occupations of Ockenden and Webb unto and to the use of my son John Robert in fee simple
4. I give and devise all that piece or parcel of land situate in the parish of Corringham aforesaid formerly called The Rainbow Field but now an orchard And also my piece or parcel of freehold land situate in the parish of Corringham aforesaid and known as the Four acre field except such part thereof as I have conveyed to the trustees of the Peculiar People for the Corringham district as a site for a chapel And also my two freehold messuages and gardens situate in Victoria Road Stanford le hope in the County of Essex now in the respective occupations of Stodart and Gigens And also my four freehold cottages gardens situate in Southend Road Stanford le hope aforesaid now in the respective occupations of West Pockett Nunn and Henberger unto and to the use of my son Horace Edward in fee simple
5. I give and devise all those my six freehold villas and gardens situate at Corringham aforesaid and fronting the road leading to Vange now in the respective occupations of myself Baker Barnes Hurell Dowes and W Nunn And also my two freehold cottages and gardens situate at Corringham aforesaid also fronting the road leading to Vange now in the respective occupations of W Nunn and Crick And also my freehold piece or parcel of meadow land with the piece of ground formerly part thereof but now used by me as a garden and the stack yard gravel pit and piece of land called or known as "Grovers Garden" all situate adjoining in the parish of Corringham aforesaid And also my two freehold messuages and gardens situate and known as numbers 1 and 2 Rose Villas Southend Road Stanford le hope aforesaid now in the respective occupations of Austen and Yates unto and to the use of my daughter Ada Strange in fee simple subject to the right of way given to my son James Mallet by Clause 2 hereof
6. I give and devise all those my two freehold messuages and gardens situate and known as Number 1 and 2 Elm Cottages Victoria Road Stanford le hope now in the respective occupations of Stammers and Spall And also the strip of land situate at the side thereof And also the Peculiars Chapel and house adjoining situate in Southend Road Stanford le hope aforesaid And also all that triangular piece or parcel of land situate at Stanford is hope aforesaid at the junction of the Southend Road and Victoria Road with the messuage or duellinghouse and shop with the lean to shed and workshop erected on part thereof as leased to John Brand and also the two cottages erected on other part of the said land and in the respective occupations of Gawler and Gray which last mentioned property was purchased by me from the executors of the late Mrs Ellen Jane Alston unto and to the use of my daughter Lucy Elizabeth Hall in fee simple
7. I give devise and bequeath all the rest residue and remainder of my real and personal estate whatsoever and wheresoever of or to which I shall be seised possessed or entitled or over which I may have any power of appointment or disposition at the time of my decease including my live and dead farming stock my household furniture and effects and my freehold land at Corringham aforesaid known as Cobblers Mead with the two cottages known as Primrose Cottages purchased by me from Mrs Greatheed unto and to the use of my said trustees according to the nature and tenure thereof respec-tively upon trust to sell call in and convert the same into money and to get in all book and other debts owing to me at the date of my decease and after payment thereout of my debts funeral and testamentary expenses and the expenses incidental to the trusts of this my will I direct my said trustees to set aside the sum of two hundred pounds and invest the same in their names in or upon any of the stocks funds or securi ties authorised by law for investments of trust monies but not in any other kind of security with power to vary such investments for any others or other of a like nature and to stand possessed of the said investments and the annual income thereof upon trust for Arthur Alston Ewen the son of my late daughter Annie upon his attaining the age of twenty one years and in the meantime and until he shall Attain the age of twenty one years I direct my said trustees to pay and apply the annual income of the said investments for or towards his maintenance and education And to stand possessed of the residue thereof upon trust to pay and divide the same to and among my five children namely James Mallet Lucy Elizabeth John Robert Ada and Horace Edward and the said Arthur Alston Ewen the son of my said late daughter Annie in equal shares as tenants in common Lastly I revoke all former wills and testamentary writings by me made
