Rose Audrey Blanch LEWIS [9566]

  General Notes:

Rose was born at Victoria House, Rowden Lane, Hampsthwaite (5 miles from Harrogate). This was a farm owned by Frederick MacKay and his wife Nellie (one of Hilda's sisters). Her parents moved to Shrewsbury when she was a child.

After leaving school Rose went to work at the General Accident Fire and Life Assurance Company in their Shrewsbury office, where James Turreff was also working. After her marriage they lived at Woodlands Park, Wenlock Road, Shrewsbury. During the war they lived at Saunders Cottage, Old Sarum, Salisbury where their son Anthony was born.

After her husband was killed she moved to Bournemouth and in 1946 bought Kenora, Pinewood Road, Branksome Park. She married her second husband and they moved to Brookside, Ripley, Nr Ringwood, Hampshire. They built a new house at Briars, Highcliffe on Sea. Shortly after a holiday in Alderney in 1954/5 they sold up and moved to Victoria House, Victoria Street Alderney. They were divorced about 1963 and both returned to England

Rose returned to Alderney and around 1965/65 married Charles Richards. When Charles died in 1997 she sold their home at Les Vaux, Longis Rd, Alderney, and moved to a townhouse in Olivier St (Queen Elizabeth II St.), where she lived until she died.

Rose married James Campbell TURREFF [9518] [MRIN: 3312], son of Rev Albert Alexander TURREFF [9513] and Ida Kathleen Margaret HAND [9512], on 11 Sep 1939 in St Peters Wrockwardine SAL. (James Campbell TURREFF [9518] was born on 11 Nov 1912 in Wrockwardine Telford SAL, died on 24 Sep 1944 in nr Nancy France and was buried in Choloy War Cemetery Meurthe-et-Moselle France.)
