Richard Morris is the seventh generation Morris descended from John Morris/Morrice of Northal co Essex, who, with his sons went to Ireland during Queen Elizabeth's wars, and leased lands in co Kerry. The Morris family history is recorded in the book " Morris of Balleybeggan and Castle Morris" by Melville Amadeus Henry Douglas Heddle de la Caillemotte de Masque de Ruvigny, 9th Marquis of, Morris of Ballybeggan and Castle Morris. Essex, . . . . .Joseph Morris. The grandson of the first settler of his name in Kerry, who took a lease of the lands of Urltemp Elizabeth. He died and his brothers eldest son was styled 'of Ballybeggan', which estate was in the possession of Walter Hussey until 1639, who mortgaged it in that year to an Englishman named Exham. . . . . Ballybeggan Castle. Ratass parish, did not surrender to the Irish Army in 1641-3, but was burned in the war of the revolution. The new house was built by the Morris family after the revolution. A name settling in Co. Kerry, both before and after the 1641-42 rebellion.
