After Mary and the family returned to Mangonui New Zealand she married there a Thomas King in 1862. Thomas fought in a number of Maori Wars including the Battle of Rangiriri. After the Wars Thomas, Mary and their children sailed to the UK for Thomas to get his 10 years Service discharge in Stirling Castle 28 October 1870. Thomas and Mary, now with 5 children left England to sail back to NZ on the 6th May 1875. They arrived in Auckland on the 19th August. Thomas however died on board as the ship was passing North Head on the 19th. Mary was left with 5 children. Mary married again in 1879 a Thomas Pymble. They had no children.
