NOTED ENGINEER
DR DUNSHEATH'S VISIT
INTEREST. IN HYDRO-ELECTRIC DEVELOPMENT ,
Dr Percy Dunsheath, C.B.E., M.A., D.Sc. (Eng.), F.lnst.P., M.I.C.E., M.I.E.E., the immediate past president of the Institution of Electrical Engineers, London, is now in Dunedin in the course of a tour of Australia and New Zealand, during which he has been addressing meetings of local groups of engineers on subjects of interest to the profession, with particular reference to post-war problems.
Born at Sheffield in 1886, Dr Dunsheath gained his B.Sc. (Eng.) from the University of London, subsequently taking the Mechanical Sciences Tripos at Cambridge University. During the Great War he served in the Royal Engineers, commanding a telegraph construction company, and was awarded the C.B.E. (Military).
He has had a distinguished career with W. T. Henley's Telegraph Works Company, Ltd. Joining the company in 1919 for the purpose of organising the research department, he has been responsible for many improvements in the design and manufacture of electric cables, particularly in the super-tension field, and in 1924 he was awarded the medal of the Royal Society of Arts for a paper on "Science in the Cable Industry,"
Dr Dunsheath became a full member of the Institute of Electrical Engineers in 1921, having been an associate member since 1912. In 1927 he visited the United States as a delegate of the International Electrotechnical Commission, and has served on many technical committees, both British and international. He gained his M.Sc. (London) in 1932, and in 1933 the degree of Doctor of Science Engineering, London University, was conferred upon him. Dr Dunsheath has interests in the many important problems of education, particularly as they apply to industry. With the Henley organisation he instituted some years ago a comprehensive education scheme for junior employees, and, as evidence of his interest in a wider field, he is vice-president of the Governors of Woolwich Polytechnic, a member of the Council of the British Association for Commercial and-Industrial Education, and of the Standing Committee of Convocation of London University. After attending the annual conference of the New Zealand Institute of Engineers in Christchurch, Dr Dunsheath is visiting the branches of the institute in the other centres. He is also visiting the hydro-electric works in both islands.

SECOND EDITION MADE" (P.A.) AUCKLAND.
June 5.
The controversy concerning the recent broadcast by the British expert. Dr. P. Dunsheath. on the Dominion's electrical power crisis was advanced a further stage yesterday with the release for publication of an extract from a letter received in Auckland from Dr. Dunsheath dated May 22, which states, inter alia: "In the meantime perhaps I should say that I made a second edition of the broadcast.'" Dr. Dunsheath states in the letter that this may account for "the difficulty in identifying certain parts" of the broadcast."
