General Notes:
Daniel Epes Jr. was born about 1625, son of Daniel Epes and Martha Reade of London, England. He deposed as being age 52 in 1677.
In his grand father Edmund Reade's will, dated on November 20, 1623, are mentioned, Daniel Epps and my daughter Martha Epps, and their children Elizabeth and Daniel.
His father Daniel Epes Sr. was buried at London on June 26, 1630.
After Daniel Sr.s' death, his mother Martha married second c 1637, Samuel Symonds, as his second wife. [2] He presumably came to New England with his mother and stepfather in 1637. Daniel married his step-sister Elizabeth Symonds.
His mother Martha died about 1662. Her death date is unknown, but son Daniel testified that before her death, his mother had told him that Mr. Humphrey Vincent, in his will written on January 1, 1661, had left the majority of his estate to Samuel Symonds, Daniel's stepfather.
His father-in-law, Samuel Symonds wrote his will on February 16, 1673. In it he left bequests to my son and daughter Epps, among others. As William Symonds, executor of the his father Samuel's estate, died intestate, without making provisions for the estate division, on June 18, 1680, administration of Samuel's estate was granted to Mrs. Rebecca Symons, widow, eldest son Harlakinden Symons, and Daniel Epps, husband to Samuel's eldest living daughter Elizabeth.
His wife Elizabeth died on May 7, 1685, aged about 61 years. He married second, the widow Lucy (Woodbridge) Bradstreet .
Daniel died at Ipswich on January 8, 1692/3, aged 70.
His estate was administered by sons Symond and Daniel. His widow Lucy submitted to the court a letter to the court acknowledging her satisfaction with the receipt of L100 as her right of dower, as written in the covenant prior to her marriage to Captain Daniel Epps Sr. and released and quit claimed any further rights to his estate. The remainder of his estate was divided as follows: To eldest son Daniel - 2 shares To son Symond -1 share To grandchildren Robert and Daniel Greenough, children of Robert Greenough, 1- share His widow Lucy died at Medford, Massachusetts on June 18, 1710.
