A Mr Richard Alison of Woolton, is reported in the papers, as a benefactor and regular exhibitor and prize winner at Floral Exhibitions in the 1850's.
Foundation of a new Independent Chapel at Woolton. Yesterday, the foundation stone of a new Congregational Chapel, intended for the use of the congregation attending the ministrations of the Independent Missions at Woolton was laid by Mr Richard Alison of Woolton Heys. (He having contributed L550 to the cost.) Liverpool Daily Post 26 March 1864.

The Will of Richard Alison late of Woolton Heys Woolton near Liverpool in the County of Lancaster Esq who died 14 August 1874 at Woolton Heys was proved at Liverpool by Edward Mounsey of 3 Lord Street Liverpool estate agent William Woodward Doke of 2 York Buildings Dale Street Liverpool share broker and James Houghton of 41 Rodney Street Liverpool gentleman the Executors. Recent Local Wills. Two important Wills of gentleman for many years connected with the town of Liverpool, have just been Proved at her Majesty's Court of Probate. The first was the will of the late Mr Richard Alison, of Woolton Heys, who died on 14 August last. The will is dated 18th of March 1873. The executors were Mr James Houghton of Rodney Street and Barmston Towers, Neston; Mr W W Doak, stock and share broker, York buildings, Dale Street, and Birkdale; and Mr Edward Mounsey, accountant, Lord Street and Upper Parliament Street. The personality was sworn under L400,000. After bequeathing L300 to Mr Mounsey and L200 to each of the other executors, the testator devises L1000 to the Royal Infirmary, L200 to the Northern Hospital, L300 to the Southern Hospital, and L200 each to the North South and East dispensaries. The residue of the property, after providing for a few other bequests, is by the will vested in trustees for the benefit of testator's great-grandson, Richard Alison Johnson, an infant, during his life, and afterwards be divided according to his will among his children on their attaining 21 years of age. The will authorises the trustees to expend what is necessary to educate and rear the fortunate lad, its further empowers the trustees to pay to Mr Mounsey all the customary charges due to him as an accountant in superintending the financial part of the administration of the estate. Three valuable carriages horses, viz: Jerry; 16 ˝ hands high, 10 years old; Bay horse Tom; 16 ˝ hands high 10 years old, the two forming a really first-class match, and are steady in either double, or single harness, work well together, and are also suitable for the saddle; No. 3 brougham horse 'Bob' 17 hands high 6 years old, very powerful, a thorough good brougham horse and steady in either single or double harness also a first class saddle horse. Set of double harness set of single harness both silver mounted, two sets of horse clothing, pair of horse cloths, three new head collars, corn bin, four stable brackets, two corn sieves, steel grained pikles, two saddles and bridles, child's saddle and bridle, gas-making apparatus, stable harrow, watertrough, sundry stable articles, and harness room furniture etc., etc., Well built Brougham by 'Riley' of Liverpool in first class order, Family coach by Evans and Mitchell; C Spring Barouche, by Evans and Mitchell all of which are fitted up with costly lamps and are in good order. The Sale will commence at the homestead with the Implements and Farm Stock, after which the carriage horses, harness and carriages will be sold. Parties attending the sale are requested to enter the premises by the gate leading to the farm homestead out of the 'Out Lane' Catalogues will be ready seven days before the sale and may be had on application to Mr. Mounsey, Accountant, Lord Street, Liverpool or at the office of the Auctioneer, Church Street, Prescot.
