THIS IS THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT of me CATHERINE HAULTAIN ALSTON of Rothesay Melville Street Hyde in the Isle of Wight in the county of Hants Widow I revoke all wills and testamentary dispositions heretofore made by me I appoint my nephew Philip Hubert Martineau of 2 Raymond Buildings Grays Inn in the county of London Esquire (hereinafter called my trustee) to be sole EXECUTOR AND TRUSTEE of this my will I give all my wearing apparel jewellery trinkets ornaments of the person furniture and other household effects to my niece Olive Marion Boxer absolutely free of death duties I give the following pecuniary legacies all free of death duties namely
To nephew Philip Hubert, Martineau the sum of two thousand pounds upon condition that he discharges any sum that may owe at the date of my death to the firm of Messrs Martineau & Reid of 2 Raymond Buildings Grays Inn of which he is a member for costs or monies paid on my behalf. And in the event of the said Philip Hubert Martineau predeceasing me I give a legacy of two thousand pounds to the executors and trustees of his Will to be held by them as part of his general personal estate subject to the same condition as to discharging my liabilities to the firm of Messrs Martineau & Reid
To Helen Easty of Jesmond Ryde in the Isle of Wight the sum of one hundred and fifty pounds
To my sister in law Rosa Boxer the sum of fifty pounds
And as to all the rest of my estate and effects both real and personal I devise and bequeath the same after payment thereout of my funeral and testamentary expenses and debts and the legacies hereinbefore bequeathed and the legacy duty thereon unto and to the use of my niece the said Olive Marion Boxer absolutely

Catherine married Lieut Col. Sydney Vere ALSTON [4153] [MRIN: 1434], son of Capt Henry Frederick ALSTON [4148] and Anne Lucy WALSH [4149], on 25 Apr 1866 in St Dunstan & All Saints Stepney LND. (Lieut Col. Sydney Vere ALSTON [4153] was born on 9 Sep 1840 in Cambridge Hyde Park London and died on 21 Jun 1907 in Torquay.). The cause of his death was cirrhosis of the liver.
