Margaret Frances WARNER of Trinidad [719]
- Born: 3 Apr 1836
- Died: 21 Sep 1919, MDX LND aged 83
General Notes:
Margaret is said to be descended from Sir Thomas Warner 1st Bart sometime Govenor of St Kitts (1629?). Margaret was one of the last heiresses of the West Indies. Sir Thomas married a well born woman from St Lucia who is said to have been reduced in wealth when the French started disputing English claims on St Lucia. No evidence has been found indicating Margaret inherited.
Margaret is said to have died when her son William was in his teens. She is related to Plum (Pelham Francis) Warner the well known cricketer. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pelham_Warner
About 1935 Edward Julius born 1868 son of William Warner Julius Snr told (Sir) George Julius who was researching the family tree at that time, that his grandmothers maiden name was Margaret Warner, from the West Indies, and that she was related in some way to "Plum" Warner, so well known in the cricket world. "Plum" Warner's people also came from the West Indies. Ref Letter from George Julius to Stuart Smith 4 Jan 1936.
Research Notes:
Margaret's birthdate from the Sewell Family Tree does not fit with the birth date of her son William Warner Julius, however William is a popular name with the family so an explanation is probable if it can be found.
