Mrs. Frances Elizabeth Dunlop, of Speen Hill House, Newbury, who died on Sunday at the age of 96, was the widow of the Rev. R. V. Dunlop and the last surviving child of the late Sir Charles Peter Layard. She was one of a family of eight daughters and one son, all of whom were true to the family motto of Persererando. Until recently Mrs. Dunlop was greatly interested in all the topics of the day and in current literature. She played games, such as bridge, and excelled in the. She was in touch with many branches of religious work. She wrote no fewer than 120 notes in her own handwriting for Christmas, 1921. Her unfailing sympathy will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
The funeral will take place at Shaw Church, Newbury, at 12:30 today.
