ALSTON v. ALSTON.
Bill 22 February, 1689/90, by Solamon Alston of Havering, co. Essex, yeoman, v. John Alston of Wetherfield, said co., yeoman.
About 7 or 8 years since Orator owed arrears of rent to one Charles Baker, gent., for the rent of a farm in Gosfield, in the said county, and also L12 to the defendant. He made over all his stock of corn and cattle on the farm to the defendant, who agreed to pay his debt to Baker. Orator understood the L12 was included. Now, after this long interval, John demands payment of the L12.
Hamilton. 595. 1689/90.
Alstoniana Pg 183

PASFIELD v. ALSTON.
Bill, undated, by Edward Pasfield of Wethersfield, co. Essex, wheelwright, v. Solomon Alston of Wethersfield mercer.
Defendant is indebted to complainant in about L20 for goods, &c., supplied him during the last five years ; and at the request of the said Solomon complainant took L5 worth of goods in part payment ; and now he refuses to come to any account with him, and instead of paying him, sues him for debt.
The suit [Hamilton 556?] Pasfield v. Alstone, in which the bill is dated 9 July 1679, is apparently a duplicate of this. In the answer attached to the last said bill, defendant says the complainant is rather a debtor to him than vice versa, as he alleges in his bill ; defendant being now in London, and his account books at his house in the country,
forty miles distant, he cannot now give an answer in particular.
Hamilton 271/21 1679?
Alstoniana Pg 208

PASFIELD v. ALSTON.
Bill (of which there is a short abstract only) dated 9 July 1679, by Edward Pasfeild of Weatherfield, co. Essex, wheelwright, v. Solomon Alstone of the same place mercer.
Both bill and answer deal only with transactions arising in the way of trade, and contain no Alstone information.
Bridges, 541. 1679,
Alstoniana Pg 207 & 208

MEAD v. ALSTON.
Bill [32 Charles II] by John Meade of Weathersfield, co. Essex, Chyrurgion, v. Mary Wood, Anne Mountjoye, Richard Daniell, Solomon Alstone, Edmund Carr and Thomas Jefferes.
The suit relates solely to a mortgage and sale by complainant of a messuage and land held of the manor of Wethersfield. The only personal detail about the defendant Alstone is that, in his answer, he describes himself as desirous of living at peace and avoiding suits at law, and being ignorant of matters of law and the nature of conveyances.
Mitford, 302/51. 1680.
Alstoniana Pg 209

HORSELEY v. ALSTON.
Hamilton. 591
Bill, 16 July 1685, by Joseph Horsley, citizen and merchant tailor of London, and John Withers, citizen and fishmonger of London, v. Solomon Alston.
By indenture dated 26 March 1685 the complainants made a lease to Samuel Alston of Rumford, co. Essex, yeoman, of a messuage and land called Hides, in Dagenham. Essex, at a rent of 30 ; defendant now refuses to pay the half year's rent due, and threatens to throw up his part of the bargain.
In his answer the defendant says he refuses the lease because it appears the complainants have no proper title.
Solomon and Samuel appear to be the one and the same. Perhaps an error in my transcription. L.C.
This is placed with little confidence ELF - 2019
