Ralph was living 9 June 1641 when he was mentioned in his brothers will. He is described as an Attorney in an old Alston Pedigree (Pg 367 Alstoniana), Cresswell conjectures he might be Sir Ralph Alston Knt of Lincolnshire 1660?.

A Ralph Alston - Matric. sizar from Queen's, Easter 1636; B.A. 1639-40 of Essex.

Mentioned in Bury File A2A - 1754/4/6 - date: Oct 1637 a Ralph Alston acting as a receiver for the Crown the file is a receipt for rent paid by a Mr Samuel Coleman to Ralph.
