William was of Bamford, (Ipswich on his Marriage Lic.) Barrister-at-Law, admitted Grays Inn, 21 Oct 1714 (ref Law List PRO) died aged 54. His will dated 10 Mar 1746/7 proved PCC 31 Oct 1749. In it his 3 surviving sons were said to be under 21yrs he had 2 or 3 other sons who died young.
Trustee in 1742 Sir W Devereux's gift.

He was a beneficiary under his Aunt Alice Alston's [2957] will dated 18 Sep 1694

William Alston, Esq., in 1734 held a moiety of the Manor of Bildeston in right of his wife Elizabeth, daughter of Bartholomew Beale, Esq. He was a Barrister of Gray's Inn, the only son of Samuel Alston, Esq., of Marlesford Suff:

and coheirs of Bartholomew Beale, Esquire, late of Bildesdon in this County. They had issue six sons, three of whom William, Thomas and Joseph, survive. She dyed 16 May A.D. 1741 aet 41. He dyed 26 July A.D. 1749 aet 54

An assignment for the remainder of 100yr and 2000yr terms, of Tye Farm Bradford, was executed to Elijah Impey trustee for a John Dunning, by William Beale Brand Esq. of Polstead, executor of his father the late Jacob Brand who held Tye Farm in trust for William Alston of Bramford. 9 Sept 4 Car:1 (1628)
Peter Alston [2988] seized in fee of one Messuage with the lands thereto belonging in Bramford in the County of Suffolk commonly called Hulverhill possessed of the Manor of Lovetofts AND of one other Messuage in Bramford aforesaid commonly called Aldersfield (?) containing together by estimation 90 acres more or less AND ALSO of the Manor of Lovetoft By Will bearing date the 26 March inst (?) before the day hereof did devise inter alia the first mentioned premises to Peter Alston his eldest son and his heirs for ever and the Manor of Lovetoft inter alia to Edward Alston another son and his heirs forever and died at Bramford 3 of April 4 Car. 1 as appears by Inquisition taken before his Majesties . . . . . eator at Gippin (g) in the said County (Nunn1)
Note The premises together with the Manor of Lovetoft are holden in fee Sottage of the Manor of Bramford nt patet ibin. (Num 1)

Peter Alston son of the aforesaid Peter Executor to Edward Alston his brother and Guardian and Committee of John Alston and afterwards of Joseph Alston sons of the said Edward by order of the Court of Wards and Liveries became bound to his Majesty in L5000 Bond bearing date the 3 July 2 Car to amount for all such money goods and chattels late the said Edward Alston deceased as came to his hands and to stand to and abide the Order of the Court. AND afterwards the said Peter died leaving Peter his son and heir his Executor Who by decree of the said court was ordered to pay to the said Joseph the sum of L3450/15/4d as appears by the Exemplification of the said Decree. The premises and all other lands of the said Peter Alston upon an Inquisition taken at Bradford 21 Jan 14 Car: were extended and seised into his Majesties hand upon forfeiture of the said Bond of L5000 by virtue of a Writ of Extent issuing out of the said Court of Wards and Liveries. (Num 3)

The aforesaid Joseph Alston writing that whereas he had a Lease or an Assignment of the Lands extended did by Will devise all his right title Interest . . . . . Claim and Demand whatsoever with the term of years therein to him belonging to his Executrix to be sold for the payment of his debts and legacies . . . . . the several . . . . . redeemed them by payment of L2400 within six months or within such time as his Executrix in writing should give AND he made Mary his wife sole Executrix. Peter Alston aforesaid and Mary Alston Executrix of the said Joseph Alston by Lease and Release convey the said premises inter alia to Sir John Hanmer his heirs and assigns forever. (Num 6:7)

Charles 2 by letters patent did grant and assign the Lands extended to Mary Alston Widow and Executrix to Joseph Alston and to her Executors Administrators and Assigns. (Num 5)
Note Possession was delivered to the said Joseph Alston by Order of the Court of Wards in the year 1639 but he had no grant by reason of the distractions that soon after happened but he and his Executrix afterwards continued in possession.

21 April 16 Car:2 (1664)
The aforesaid Mary Alston in consideration of L725 did assign the said premises extended as aforesaid to William Gilbert Clerk in Trust for William Baker Clerk his Executors Administrators and Assigns. (Num 8 Double)

22 April 16 Car:2 (1664)
Mary Alston and Sir John Hanmer aforesaid did by Deed Covenant with the said William Baker to levy a fine of the said premises to the use of the said William Baker his Heirs Assigns forever. (Num 9)

William Baker (only son and heir of the before mentioned William Baker) and Susan his Wife Edward Spenser and Ann his wife (only daughter of the said William Baker and Susan his wife) for the docking of all entails and the . . . . . Of all Dower did by Deed covenant with Edward Mundy and his heirs to the absolute use of the said Edward Spencer and his heirs. (Num 12)

8 Geo (1722) The fine was accordingly levied by the name of 2 messuages 2 gardens 2 orchards 60 acres of land 10 acres of meadow 30 acres of pasture with their appurtenances in Bramford.
Note The original Deeds are in the hands of them who purchased the greater part of the estate

2. William Alston: Will, 10 Mar 1746/47, Bramford SFK.
THE WILL of WILLIAM ALSTON Esq. of BRAMFORD
Dated 10 March 1746/47
I desire to be buried in the middle aisle of the parish church of Bramford as near my dear late wife as may be. I desire my executor to have a grave stone laid there within 6 months after my decease with a short inscription in memory of me and my said wife with our arms engraved thereon.
I give to my eldest son William Alston my messuage, lands, tenements and hereditaments in Bramford and Blakenham co. Suffolk upon certain conditions hereafter mentioned
I give to my second son Thomas the interest of all my stock in the Bank of England until he reach the age of 21 years, on his attaining that age, the stock to be his. Should Thomas die before the age of 21 the Stock to be equally divided between my son William and my youngest son Joseph The dividends on said stock have been received for me by my friend Mr John Coles of Fleet St. London.
I give to my son Joseph Alston L60 to pay the fine and fees due upon his admission to the copyhold lands in Chelsworth, part of the estate of Bildeston which will come to him at my death
I also give to my said son Joseph L150 to put him to some employment at the age of 16, or should his guardian send him to one of the universities, to take orders hereafter which I much approve, the said sum with interest to be paid to said Joseph at the age of 21
I desire that William pay to Joseph the sum of L150 before mentioned, also in case the Bank Stock shall not be worth L600 at the time my son Thomas attains his majority, my son William is to make up the deficiency the above provision for my two younger sons is over and above the sum of L500 intended to be raised for them upon the Bildeston estate by virtue of the appointment of my wife dated 12 Sep 1738
I give to my brother-in-law Jacob Brand Esq. my right in an annuity in the Exchequer in the name of Prewe Downing since Prewe Nicholson, in trust to pay the same to my said three sons.
I appoint the said Jacob Brand, executor of this my will and trustee for my sons during their minority, should he die before my sons are 21 I appoint my sister Mrs. Brand their guardian
I give L10 each to Mr. and Mrs. Brand for mourning
I give a mourning ring value a guinea to my friend William Swinburne of Gray's Inn; Esq. The same to my friend Mr. Coles
I give L10 to Mrs. Susan Evans
I give all my law books to my son William and all my other books to be divided between my three sons according as my executor thinks fit
I bequeath to each of my sons a large and a small silver salver, and 2 silver spoons engraved with an unicorn's head.
I give to Thomas my son, the pearl snuff box studded with gold, my gold pair of sleeve buttons and one coffee pot
I give to Joseph my green jasper ring set in gold.
I give to my servant Ambrose Brown two guineas
I give to the poor of the Parishes of Bildeston and Bramford, each parish 40/-
The residue of my estate I give to my son William.
