The Will of Elizabeth Lee
9 January 1747.
In the Name of God Amen I Elizabeth Lee of Stanway in the County of Essex Widow being weak in body but of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding do make and declare my last Will and Testament in manner following (that is to say) First I assign my soul into the hands of Almighty God my creator and my body I commit to the to be decently interred at the discretion of my Executors hereinafter named and as to for and concerning such worldly estate I am seized of interested in and entitled unto I make hereof the following dispositions First I give and bequeath unto my daughter Elisabeth the now wife of Edward Alston my silver cup which was her late father Tollers And I order and direct an inventory to be made taken and delivered to my Executors as soon as conveniently may be after my decease of all my goods and chattels farming stock household goods furniture other plate linen and all other my personal estate whatsoever and wheresoever and the same to be appraised and sold by my executors for the best price that can be gotten for the same And after all my just debts legacies and funeral charges and the probate of this Will be in the first place paid and satisfied I give to my kinsman Thomas Brown and John Brown the sum of five pounds apiece to be paid into their father's hands for their use until they shall severally be at the age of twenty-one years or to be applied for and towards their being put out apprentices to a trade if there said father shall so propose Also I give and bequeath unto my two Executors hereinafter named the sum of five pounds apiece for their trouble they shall have in the execution of this my Will to be paid to them respectively within one year next after my decease And all the remaining part of the money arising by sale of my effects as aforesaid I will shall be put out at interest upon some good security by my Executors and the interest and produce thereof shall be paid to my daughter Judith Lee until she shall attain to her age of twenty-one years or day of marriage which shall first happen and so soon as she shall attain to that age or marriage then I give and bequeathe to her my said daughter Judith Lee and her heirs for ever all the principal money that shall be then out at interest as directed so to be as aforesaid and all monies that my personal shall be sold for by my Executors but my Will is that if my said daughter Judith Lee shall died before she shall attain to her said age of twenty-one years unmarried and without issue then I give and bequeath one half part of the moneys so given to her as aforesaid to my brother John Brown and his heirs and the other half thereof to my said daughter Elisabeth Alston and her heirs and I do hereby nominate and appoint my son in law Edward Alston and my said brother John Brown Executors of this my Will and I do hereby revoke and make void all former and other Wills by me heretofore made and do declare this to be and contain my last Will and Testament.
In witness whereof I the said Elizabeth Lee the testatrix have here unto set my hand and Seale this ninth day of January in the twenty-first year of the reign of our sovereign Lord George II by the grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland King defender of the faith and so forth and in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and forty seven

Proved the fifteenth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and forty seven before the Rev John Pick CLH AM? lawful surrogate and by the oath of John Brown one of the Executors to whom administration was granted as being first sworn duly to administer, power being reserved for Edward Alston the other Executor to do the like whenever he shall lawfully applied for the same.
