ALSTON, JOSEPH, of Edwardstone, Suffolk, Esq., bachelor, 22, and Laurentia Trumbull, of Hadleigh, said county, spinster, 18, dau. of Charles Trumbull, doctor of law, who consents, at St. Bride's, London, or . . . .26 June, 1699. They were married by Dr Turner by Arch Bishops licence.
Laurentia was a woman of some substance. Portraits of her and her father were in 1899 in the possession of Mr Theodore Hare.

Laurentia was aged 37 at her death, her ledger stone in Edwardstone Church was removed from the Nave to the Lady Chapel c1878 now partially obscured by the organ 2010, it reads:
HSE Domina Laurentia Iosephi Alston Hujus villœ armigeri uxor amabili Reverendi Caroli Trumbull LLD filia unica cujus memiœ pientissimae publicum hoc tam doloris quam fidei conjugalis monumentum pietatis ergo posuit moerens maritus Erat filia observantissima conjux fidissima mater indulgentissima in variis vitae muneribus obeundis œque calleus ac syncera Quid multis ? Pietate prudentia ingenio comitate tantisq corporis pariter ac animi dotibus inclaruit ut facile evaserit fœminei generis decus et ornamentum Liberos sex relinquentem superstites e carnis ergas tulo liberarunt variolae malignae non sine luctu omnium 28 Feb. Laurentia married Joseph ALSTON of New House [3521] [MRIN: 1202], son of Isaac ALSTON of Chelsea [3220] and Mary SEILE of London [3519], on 1 Jul 1699 in St Bride Fleet St LND. (Joseph ALSTON of New House [3521] was born about 1675, baptised on 31 May 1675 in St Luke Chelsea LND, died on 11 Oct 1736 and was buried on 15 Oct 1736 in Edwardstone SFK.). The cause of his death was gout.
