IGI puts Maria's birth at 24 Aug 1705.
His ledger stone in Edwardstone Church was removed from the Nave to the Lady Chapel c1878 it reads: Maria filia natu quinta Josephi Alston Armi Hanc quoque ornatissimam virginem que in dubio reliquit utrum corporis forma et venustate an animi moribus et virtutibus esset amabilior Tabis funesta vis invasit Cui nulla arti resisti potuit et in florentissima oetati longiore vita dignissimam ademit XXXI Augusti Anno AEtatis XXII Domini MDCCXXVI Ref: Alstoniana Pg. 251

This indenture made 18th of December Anno Domini 1724 between Mary Aston of Edwardstone Suffolk spinster and Martha Hyam of Great Cornard in the said county widow of the [_] ... of Edwardston aforesaid husbandman of the other part (which ... of the daughter and coheirs of Rachael? Aston ...witnesseth that the said Mary Aston and Martha Hyam for and in consideration of the sum of £01.13.04 of lawful money of Great Britain to them severally and a piece paid by the said John Simpson at or before the ensealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof they and either of them do hereby severally acknowledge and thereof and of every part and parcel thereof do release, exonerate, acquit, and discharge the said John Simpson, his heirs, etc. and every of them forever by these presents have and each of them hath granted, demised, bargained, and sold and by these presents ... them doth grant, demise, bargain, and sell unto the said John Simpson ... of and in all ...... and also [_] that orchard, land, and appurtenances ... thereunto adjoining late in the occupation of the said Rachael? Aston [her heirs and etc.?] assigns and the reversion and reversions, remainder and remainders thereof and all the estate, right, title, interest, property, claim, and demand whatsoever of them the said Mary Aston and Martha Hyam or either of them of in or to the same premises or any part thereof to have and to hold the aforesaid two parts in three parts to be divided of and in the premises with the appurtenances unto the said John Simpson his executors, etc., from the day next before the day of the date hereof for and during the full time and term of one thousand years from then immediately ensuing and fully to be complete and ended, yielding and paying ... the same Mary Aston and Martha ... rent of one peppercorn always ... [feast of St. Michael?] ...if demanded and the said Mary Aston and Martha Hyam do by these presents for themselves, their heirs, etc., ... and grant to and with the said John Simpson his executors, etc., that it shall and may be lawful to and for the said John Simpson his executors, etc., peaceably and quietly to hold and enjoy the aforesaid two parts in three parts to be divided of and in the premises for and during all the aforesaid term of one thousand years hereby granted free from all incumbrances, the lord's rent excepted.
