He fought in the Second World War, Royal Engineers, and was Chief of Movements and Transportation Branch 6-4 Division, Supreme HQ, Allied Expeditionary Force between 1943 and 1945.1 He was decorated with the award of the Legion of Honour, invested as: Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.), Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) and decorated Commander, U.S. Legion of Merit.
